John deere 450 dozer wont go in reverse. I went through the entire sequence of clutch and pressure adjustments (followed Roy Suomi's post on how to do it). Any ideas? Sep 30, 2006 · I have 1966 450 dozer with the HLR and when I put it in R it won"t move backward. I just finished changing steering clutches and brake bands on both sides and now it turns perfect just as she should. . The machine has new sprokets and idlers my problem is when adjusting the tracks going from foward to reverse a couple of times then nothing . Sometimes I have to pull it to level ground before it will shift into gear??? I almost fell into a pit with it yesterday and really need to fix this problem.
